Information

What does “laser” or “laser” mean?
The term “laser” is made up of the first letters of light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. This describes a process of amplification of light through a previously excited emission of radiation. By connecting different media (e.g. gases, crystals, liquids) different effects can be achieved. This means that different lasers can be used for different cosmetic or medical areas.

Who should avoid aesthetic laser treatment?
Laser treatment should be avoided if the skin is tanned. Sunbathing should be taboo for four weeks before and after treatment. In addition, certain (acute) skin diseases can also speak against laser treatment. Taking certain medications (e.g. blood thinners) can also be a contraindication. In the case of moles, it is also important to first have a dermatologist clarify whether superficial removal of the pigments is medically justifiable or whether surgical removal is necessary (this is the case with moles, which can lead to skin cancer).

Is laser treatment painful?
In general, laser treatment is a painless measure. However, the feeling during treatment is often compared to “needle pricks”. However, most patients can usually tolerate this sensation without anesthesia. If desired, a local anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.

What skin problems can be treated with lasers?
Lasers can be used in many different ways. Laser treatment can generally improve the appearance of the skin as it stimulates skin regeneration and collagen formation. Tired skin affected by signs of aging can be resurfaced in depth with the help of laser treatment. Clearly visible, discolored or bulging scars as well as acne scars can be reduced. Spider veins and red veins can also be made to disappear with laser treatment and body hair is also a thing of the past after laser treatment.

For which skin aging signs is laser treatment the best choice?
Laser treatment can lead to a significant improvement in generally sagging, aging skin on the face, neck and décolleté. Deep wrinkles cannot be completely removed with one treatment, which requires the use of Botox or fillers. However, the skin generally looks fresher and more radiant, and the appearance of wrinkles is also improved.

Which treatment method is best for spider veins and couperose?
Laser treatment can be a good alternative to foam sclerotherapy. A disadvantage of laser treatment for spider veins and red veins is that several sessions are necessary.

How many sessions are necessary for laser treatment? How many appointments are necessary to achieve a satisfactory result depends largely on the diagnosis, i.e. on the skin problem to be treated. For some indications, just one session is sufficient. Sometimes follow-up treatment is provided. Other measures, such as permanent hair removal with laser or tattoo removal, always require several sessions until the desired result is achieved.
